On August 1st, 2007, the state of Minnesota suffered one of the greatest tragedies in state history. At approximately 6:05pm the 35W bridge over the Mississippi River collapsed, killing 13 people and changing the lives of hundreds more. On October 8th, 2007, MN DOT selected the design and construction proposal submitted by Flatiron-Manson and FIGG Bridge Engineers, Inc. I was fortunate enough to be asked by FIGG to provide aerial photos of the construction progress and starting on October 23rd began photographing the 35W Bridge construction. On September 18th, 2008, at 5am, the new bridge opened to traffic just 337 days after construction began. Below are just some of the over 1000 images I delivered to FIGG since I started to document the construction progress of the bridge. It truly was a great honor and privilege to have worked on this project. Thank you for taking some time out of your day to let me share some of
my work with you.
I hope you enjoy the pictures.
